Andy is back!! Nice to have him here, covid disrupted trips but Andy was determined to make it this time and so he did…. Game plan needed for this trip as Andy wanted cats and carp. First up was a 2 night session at Figgy after the cats. To add to the spice we went with the spod rods… softer in action and in the first 24 hours they certainly saw some!! 10 cats landed mostly 60/70 lb fish. The next 24 took a few hours to get going….. the day produced 2 fish and nothing more until 11pm when rod 2 went in to melt down !!! Much better fish this one… long powerful first run…. Andy beaming and soon landed a cracker at 89lb. Night time shots taken we just got the rods out and everything in it’s place when rod 2 was off again, great scrap too and another good fish at 72lb. Lots of fish showing now so we soon had all rods in place when not 10 mins of sitting down again rod 2 was away again. Now this was definitely a better fish.. Andy won’t mind me saying but does really have to take things a bit easy… this fish was powerful…. but Andy refusing to have any help battled on and we soon had a much better fish in the sling. 96lb not quite a “Ton” but great fun!!
Rods back out all re-baited and we were due some rest. Great spell of fishing but rest was going to have to wait as you’re guessed it rod 2 was away again….. crazy spell of fishing .. this one testing Andy even I was getting tired just watching!!! all fish coming to rod 2 on 4 pellets.. this one the biggest so far at 98lb. We did manage some sleep after but with 3 more fish in the morning bringing our cat fishing to an end with a tally of 19, great 48 hours.
Part of the game plan was to take a break, so we packed away the cat gear and loaded up the truck with the carp gear a good nights sleep and 48 hours after the Carp. We set up at the factory and found some spots we marked and baited up with maize and boilies. First night passed with the cats picking up our boilies, 3 lost due to hook pulls and snapping up. The weed wasn’t kind to us either .. neither the weather as by the first morning it was rather damp but a beautiful sunrise. We decided to stay and see out our plan ….. we fished well but weed problems and the weather weren’t good to us. I landed an upper double carp and we lost another cat but that was that for our carp fishing here at the Factory.
We still had the evening and the following morning which we were going to do down the garden. The evening was really baiting up ready for an early morning start. Andy had a few hours before we had to set off to the airport and he took full advantage landing two lovely carp at 29lb 2oz and 27lb
Great to see Andy again.. he caught some lovely fish and know he was pleased to get here …. eventually!!!!!!! ????
