Great start to 2024

2024 started with some much needed rain. For the first time in 3 years the dams were open, but it was just what the river needed, a good flush through. We caught some nice carp down the garden early on but the river did calm down so we could start fishing the main river. Jamie took one look at Ribaroja and thats where we stayed for 4 nights. Carp being the target, it took 24 hours to get the first run but from there on we had steady action. Jamie caught a real cracker at 48lb 13oz and we went on to land 18 fish from 22 runs

Dave was next in, wanted carp so we fished 3 days back at Ribaroja. But the fish had moved on and we only managed 1 carp at 21lb. We caught some small cats to 46lb but it was the garden that produced with Dave landing a beautiful Mirror at 31lb 15oz. Owen and Gareth arrived for a short trip. Two nights fishing produced cats of 84 and 102lb, but Owen also had a beautiful very old Common at 47lb 6oz. Mick and Claire had a great time. They caught every day Mick managed a 31lb common with Claire 24lb.
Time for Phil to arrive, school friends of many years. We fished up at Ribaroja with feeder rods. Roach the target. Well Phil got us off to a great start landing many Roach and Bream including this Roach at 2lb We spent 3 days very well catching so many Roach, Bream and Carp to 17lb which was fun on the light tackle but it was day 2 when we were plagued by huge Perch. Incredible fishing 7 Perch over 2lb biggest 3lb 2oz with a few lost being cut off. Time for a short family break.. back to the fishing in June.
