Well since my last post not much has changed weather wise. Typical Spring weather warm one day cold the next, but it’s the extremely cold and strong Northerly winds that have been a pain. Two doors of the dam here in Flix open since February meaning cold water still flowing and effecting the fishing.
John, Mark and Neil finding the fishing tough…..their 4 days fishing resulting in just 1 carp of 22lb….
Next in we’re David, Lyndon, Mark and Nicholas….. their first night here saw them wake up to a heavy frost…… and the first time I’ve ever been asked for a hot water bottle!!!! We concentrated the fishing by the Factory….. here the inside edge was slack water and we had a reed lined margin to aim for…. in the sun it was warm but the strong cold wind was a problem and sent 4 of them huddled under the oval for cover. Lyndon struck first with a nice common followed by a rare plump looking Mirror.
Mark was next to land a fish and a cracking fish it was too…. 31lb caught on Northern Baits BNB from just off the reed line.
Days passed quickly with no more fish but the Easter Fiestas in the village kept an interest…. and the better weather too was welcome. The last 2 days produced 2 more carp for Lyndon … both around 20lb.
Tough fishing…. but the weather is looking more stable and the dam has just 1 door open now, so im sure things will get going soon.
until next time Paul
